[pct-l] Snow

After reading about snow conditions I'm a bit puzzled. Is a lot of snow in the mountains a southern California "lot" by people who are not used to snow or an actual lot. Could someone from say Minnesota or Maine or Alaska or someplace that has big snow and done the PCT maybe make a comparison. I had nine feet of snow outside my door in Vermont last winter and a lot of it was still there in April. But I could walk on it and used Yaktrax on the icy driveway.

Yep, I totally agree with you. I try to go out of my way to answer all questions
especially those that we hear so often. I got flame mails for asking about when
to start when I first joined. Messages that included "read the archives, stupid"
and "god, not that question again", etc...

I think the point of this list is to help those who would like to hike the PCT. And
to share information about the PCT in general.

The only reason I am pro FAQ is it could help new members. Then they could
ask more specific questions to clarify. I just think it is funny that even the topic
of a FAQ is causing a argument.

If you have any question, no matter how stupid you think it might be, I'll be happy
to help with no sarcasm/judgment. On or off the list.

We have all been there. Robert

On many lists its the people who are tired of answering questions who stop
using it not the people have questions.

I understand why one gets tired of general back packing questions, Those of
us from the East though are new to bearcans and iceaxes for long distance
hiking so have questions. At this point I'm discouraged from asking
questions about PCT specific questions on weather, water, etc
