i was an avid runner with a similar base weekly mileage & limited
hiking experience before my 2005 thru hike. my training advice: stop
running, start walking. i wouldn't train with a pack at first. just
walk. and walk. and walk....
this will get your back and feet in shape. gradually add a pack,
weight, & distance.
