Scott and I stayed on the PCT in this area. The trail is in great shape from the beginning of the detour, to just before mill creek. From there, you have some minor, and very short washouts, as well as a few blow downs. After mill creek, you will have some over grown weeds until you reach the tree line, which is about 2 miles. The walk to vista summit is very nice and still in great shape. About 4 miles before you reach vista creek, you will have some more blowdowns. The blowdowns will continue off and on till 2 miles pass the Suattle River, where after the last one you will be home free to Stehekin. There were trail crews at the southern end, who have done a great job and are anxious to continue north if and when the Suattle gets a bridge. All river crossings have either logs or bridges and are not a problem at all at this time. You will have no problems with navigation, and if you were to ask me, Stay on the PCT, it is well worth the very minor delays. It is in far better shape than last year. Joe Kisner
