[pct-l] Apache Fire Called in by PCT Hikers (with photos)

The stump doesn't really look like it's been struck by lightening, either;
most trees/stumps that I've seen that have been struck really look zapped.
Doesn't look like an arson fire, either. But it seems more likely to be a
lightening strike than a stove fire -- I agree that isn't a place where
anyone would cook. We had what felt like thunderstorm conditions a few days
ago, though we saw no activity here. The most logical explanation I can
come up with is flaming pee.

Yeah, that stump doesn't look very stove friendly.
Where could one find data concerning recent lightning
strikes in the area?
