Still more good news, campers,

Mt. Hood just exceeded 800" of total snowfall for this season which began 1 Sep 07, and a bunch more is expected over the next few days. Usually it gets only 400".

Good news, campers,

Mt. Hood has now exceeded 700" of total snowfall for this season beginning 1 Sep 07. Usually it gets only 400".

With 12" of new snow last night the total seasonal snowfall at the PCT level stands at 705", coalesced to the 226" now on the ground. There will be more before the season is over as it is forecast to snow, of-and-on, for the next week or better.

For those of you who ski, there will probably be an opportunity to take a zero at Timberline and spend some time on the slopes. Timberline usually operates year-round ski season, with the summer skiing being on the groomed surface of Palmer Glacier directly above the lodge. You can rent skis, boots and poles locally, but you won't need the bibs, parkas, hats or gloves. Swimsuit skiing is common in August.

Fortunately it has coalesced quite a bit. Only 190" remains on the ground at Timberline.
