I just hiked that section a couple weeks ago and after the fires, there is
VERY little shade until you make the hard left at the "camp site" just
before seriously climbing.

By the way, the area around the great camp site with the large oaks is
surrounded by burn areas, but the site itself is still in tact and in
wonderful shade.

Subject: [pct-l] Ultralight Umbrella/Parasol

Greetings,

I've been thinking about Mission Creek and how hot it can be, and how I
missed shade in 2004 - before the fire. Anyway, I'm thinking of carrying a
parasol. I call it that, because I would use it primarily to block run, not
rain. Any recommendations?

Walk well,
Jim Keener ( J J )
