In 2006 I had rain/hail/snow/freezing rain on the Lagunas just before
the kickoff.  In 2004 it was 90+ degrees around the same time.

I also remember camping under a tree when the marine layer moved in
one night and thinking it was raining.  Good thing I was in my tent
because the ground beneath the tree was soaked from moisture
condensing on the branches and then falling.  Away from the tree,
everything was dry.

The bottom line is that I would keep the same rain gear for the
entire trip.  You will use it infrequently in SoCal but when you
need it---you need it.
