It's the flashing sign "Avoid" that is nothing but aggressive, i.e.,"negative" to me.
are we there yet

Thanks, Sly. Someone else on this list sent me a private email and pointed out the little box at the top that takes you to the page about the Kick-Off. Thing is, I read that and I don't see it as negative at all. Seems to me he's just trying to let thru-hikers know what to expect on the trail if they begin their hike right after the Kick-Off. That's just dispensing information--information that a thru-hiker who'd never done the trail might not know about. He writes:
"The ADZPCTKO is nothing less than a spectacular gathering. By all means go! But wait until a year that you are not hiking."
That doesn't sound negative or like a put-down to me.

Scott's just down on the Kick Off and what he calls thru-wallets. Of course, we don't listen to him (much) and one of these he'll come around! :-D

I haven't gone over postholer's site in depth, but I didn't notice the
negative agenda about another PCT activity that you referred to, so I'm
wondering what that negative agenda is and what PCT activity it refers to.
(I think postholer's site is pretty cool, but I haven't looked at every
nook and cranny.)

Thought I'd chime in as a reader of the two sites. But first, I admit change is not always easy for me.
I just went to both sites, and for this "older" woman Scott's site is too good - he has far too much information for me. I get distracted and all but lost with all the highlights of many different sites, etc. And yet, I can well see where that would be a positive for the younger folks (I'm sticking with Georgi). Finally for whatever it's worth I would never want to patronize a site that has such a bold, negative agenda about another pct activity. According to my Momma, that's just plain bad manners (and rather unprofessional).
As for Trail Journals, it rings familiar to me, which is always a plus. And, it does not hit me with over loaded pages of information.
So, for whatever it's worth, probably not much, there you have it from one who reads the journals of many folks.
