[pct-l] Rain question

What's the rain like?

Not counting Oregon and Washington, and only considering Southern  
California and the Sierras, are there days where you are walking all  
day in pouring/driving rain? Or for the most part is it afternoon  
showers that you could just wait out if need be?

I ask because I'm trying to figure out what kind of rain gear to bring.
