As the parent of two daughters myself, I can understand that, but the above
also suggests that she might be less calm than she otherwise might be (?) if
and when you go through multiple days where for whatever reason no tracking
signal is received. I.e., lack of batteries, extensive tree cover, you
forget to put the unit on the pack or to turn it on, etc.      Hopefully you
two will work out the right set of expectations without too much angst en
route.

I have to admit to feeling a little hypocritical in that if one of my
daughters were doing the PCT, I'd really appreciate her carrying something
like this, whereas I'm happy that my wife is relaxed when I'm on the trail
and *not* quite so tethered!
