 their are several places to exit the trail on the east side of the Sierras,
 in Aug. I left the trail at Kearsarge Pass, Hiked about 10 miles to onion
valley trailhead, got a ride to Indepedence, CA. The Crest bus service runs
from Lone Pine CA. To Reno Nevada.Their number is 1-800-922-1930 or 790-872-

 I got a ride on the bus from Independence to Bishop for about 5 bucks,and
 a ride from Bishop to the Reno airport for 28 bucks. In Aug. of 07 it ran
 on mon, tues, thurs, & fri.
