[pct-l] Butler2 Fire

It appears like the Western perimeter of the Butler2 fire is very near to where the Old Fire in 03 petered out when it merged with the previous decade burn of the Willow Fire. The Eastern Portion of the PCT and most of Holcomb Valley has old growth timber and this year is very dry. Little Bear Springs does have an outhouse with some rustic ammenities and this area has most definitely burned. My guess with the 3 or 4 maps available, a friend in Running Springs, and my knowledge of the area is that at least 6 miles of the PCT (as the crow flies) has been affected but probably closer to 10 trail miles. The quick movement of the fire has slowed down and now the fire is reburning what it previously sped through on Friday and Saturday. Matt's latest map is very accurate and helpful.

  Matt,

As you know, "Perimeter" and acutal "burn area" are not always the same thing. Any sense of how much of the PCT is actually on fire?
