Here is the "official" announcement from the PCTA web site.
Thanks Ambery for being sharper eyed and better informed than PCTA staff!

"Blasting crews will remove the large boulders from the Milk Creek
crossing of the PCT on September 18th through the 21st, 2007. Due to
the proximity of the blasting site to Mt Jefferson, climbers and PCT
hikers should avoid the area during this time. The blast could loosen
rocks and/or create rock or earth slides. Pamelia Limited Entry Permits
will not be issued during this time.

The location of the blasting site may be found on Willamette
National
Forest Visitor Maps at T10S, R8E, NW Sec. 33, N44 0 39.89 W1210
50.75 , elevation 4500 , or viewed on the web site:
http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/willamette. The site is approximately 8 tenths
of a mile north of Pamelia Lake, at the place where the Pacific Crest
trail crosses Milk Creek. The Willamette National Forest web site will
be posted when blasting project is complete.

The workers have agreed to try to try and accommodate through hikers
if/when possible and safe. Trailheads will be posted as well as PCT
crossing at highway 20 and 4220 North end."

For those who may not be aware of this and are planning a hike on the PCT in the Jefferson area this month, the Forest Service has plans to blast the rocks from the Milk Creek drainage where the damage occurred from the storms last fall. This is scheduled from September 18th to the 22nd, and the PCT crossing this area will not be accessible during that time.
