The Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley has all kinds of donated collections,
including Sierra Club papers. One of the items in the collection is the
mountain registers of California from 1860 to 2005:

Committee records, artifacts including register containers,
and mountain registers mainly from California summits of the Sierra Nevada.

*Many of the Bancroft Library collections are stored offsite and advance
notice may be required for use. For current information on the location of
these materials, please consult the Library's online catalog.

This might be a solution acceptable to the PCTA if the Bancroft Library
could be persuaded that the registers, and perhaps early documents of the
PCTA were significant enough to be added to their collections.
