As a consideration to future hikers, maybe the PCTA could add a simple 
checkbox to their permit form stating whether or not a hiker wants this info 
to be public or private? It's a simple solution that gives control to the 
individual seeking the permit; especially if the individual consumates the 
transaction with money.

Erring on the side of caution, protecting a persons privacy, is not exactly 
a bad policy. Giving this information to some ya-hoo off the street just 
because they ask for it, is obsurd.
