The Union Tribune blog now says the BLM has closed public lands that
appear to include all of its part of the trail in Section A.
Specifically mentioned as closed are Chariot Canyon, Rodriguez Canyon
and San Felipe Hills, closed until "fires in outlying areas have been
contained."

> And the PCTA website says the same about the San Bernardino.
Essentially this means almost ALL the PCT is closed from Mexico to Pine
Canyon Road (?) in Section E. I can't imagine hiking in these conditions
anyway.

> The SignOn San Diego (Union Trib) website said the same about the
Cleveland NF.

> > "As a result of extreme fire activity, limited firefighting
resources and the continued threat to life and property, Angeles
National Forest officials are implementing a forest closure. The Forest
Closure Order is effective October 23, 2007 and will last until the
extreme conditions subside.
