a knowledgeable source told me the common name is "evening primrose". The genus is Oenothera. He couldn't identify the species from the photograph. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evening_primrose.

I'm trying to identify a five pedal, yellow flower seen just north of (south) Kennedy Meadows in early August.

If you know flowers and can help identify one, I'd greatly appreciate your assistance.

Photo of the flower is located at: http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee33/fwgaudet/?action=view&current=flower.jpg

Thanks,

Fred Gaudet
