FYI: You may know about this, but I saw a demo on the new technology using a
nano coating on cotton jeans. Wow. This beads water like I have never seen
before with any garment made of anything. And it does not come off with
use.  See _http://www.tradekey.com/selloffer_view/id/620660.htm_
(http://www.tradekey.com/selloffer_view/id/620660.htm) , but there are other sites too.

I think we will see this breathable nano technology on the trail in future
years if it can be made to be a permanent water repellent. And may be that
has been done already.  It would be great to be on the trail with nano  gear;
rain fly, tarp, umbrella, rain jacket, and pants/skirt, etc. I would not be at
all worried about being in the rain for a week on the trail.

Anyway, this is wild stuff.

Cheers, Switchback the Repellent
