There is a connecting bus that will take you from Lake Isabella to Onyx. At
least there was last year. From Onyx I didn't find it hard to hitch to
Walker Pass. -Ron S

The Kern County transit/bus system can take you from Bakersfield up to Lake
Isabella 6 days a week, then you can hitch up to Walker Pass (unless there's
some Trail Angel just dying to drive you)
