[pct-l] Denatured alcohol...

When conditions are bad enough here, NO fires are allowed at all, and
they've closed down the Nat'l Forests several times (including the PCT).
There's a fine of up to $5,000 if you get caught inside the forest when it's
closed.

We're getting just enough sprinkles to make the grasses grow, but not to
replenish the water tables. It's going to be a wicked fire season. We've
had the latest Santa Ana winds (the hot dry winds that blow in off the
Mojave) in recorded history this month.

This looks like it's going to be one of those years to exercise extreme
caution.

A Fire Story writes:

When my water starts boiling my practice is to
lift my pot, move my wire stand and put the pot back on the can to put the
fire out and save any unburned fuel. As I was doing this some grass outside
my cleared area caught fire.

Frankly I don't see how the use of alcohol caused this fire, but moving the

screen pot stand could have, somehow. In areas of extreme dryness/drought,

it's best to clear a bigger area of any combustible materials.
