They look perfect for that quick trip up Mt Whitney. Use as a sleeping bag stuff sack on your PCT hike. Leave your main pack and most of your gear in your tent at Guitar Lake; take this, water, wind clothes and a warm jacket up to Whitney and back. It would sure beat hauling your whole rig up to the Whitney/JMT junction and leaving it there for the marmots and tourists to potentially play with.
REI Flash UL Pack
17 liters = 1037 cubic inches
9 ounces
140D ripstop nylon; polyurethane coated
$25
ID Silcoat Backpack:
25 liters = 1525 cubic inches
4-1/2 ounces
Silnylon + back & bottom reinforced with 200D pack cloth
$55
The ID appears to be big enough to completely line most UL and SUL packs.
