Sly wrote about the proposed film version of "A Walk
in the Woods":

However...according to a former PCT thru-hiker and
current worker in Harpers Ferry (that article is a
year old now), no shooting occured last year when,
apparently, permits had been ready to go for it. 
Maybe the script wasn't to their liking or Newman
realized that, at 80 years old, it would probably be a
tough shoot for himself.  I offered to step in for
him...never heard back.
