[pct-l] Tent Question

I paid for one of the Big Sky Tents in December 2005. I was really
impressed with it - enough to give up my tried and trusty sierra designs
ultra-lightyear. The tent was promised for "spring 2006" I started
emailing Bob Molen at Big Sky in May - I wanted the tent to use on my
trips last summer. He gave lots of very vague, non-specific answers
about how good other models were, that he was sorry he hadn't replied to
an email in a month because he was in China, etc., etc., etc. AFter
nearly 20 emails and phone calls I finally got a refund check last
November, 11 months after sending him my money. Essentially big sky got
to use my dollars to finance their operation.

Even now I wouldn't be writing this if he had been straight with me and
said - "it might be six months before we can get your tent to you. Do
you want your money back?" or something like this. I probably would
have waited because I really liked the tent's design. But he was never
straight with me. I'm sure he's a nice guy in person. For me, Big Sky
International has a lousy business model that preys on consumers of
their products. On the advice of other hikers I filed a complaint with
the local better business bureau in Jackson, WY.

This is an opinion only, based on my personal experience.

Jeff, just Jeff...
