Warner Springs (110.6) is a good SOBO start point.
I've started SOBO from Palms to Pines/Paradise Cafe (151.3 mile marker) 
twice before the Kick Off.
This year Idyllwild/Devil's slide (178.6) may also be a GREAT starting 
point.  (Was going to be mine at first)

I all cases it's an EASIER (I like easier) hike with the rate of elevation 
gain.  Think about that 25 miles from Morena to Mt Laguna in the heat 
carrying 90 miles of supplies and lots of water.  I've already been out 
hiking in 90 degree weather this year.

Another cool possibility kinder to the trail support:
I've hiked SOBO from Walker Pass just after the Kick Off.  The Mojave was 
much, much cooler with more reliable water.  I also got a chance to meet all 
the NOBO hikers, lots from the Kick Off and many of which I met again in 
Washington and Oregon while I hiked SOBO from Manning.
All my stays with the trail angels were much more kicked back and I got to 
know these wonderful people (like I want to be when I grow up) much better 
than when there were 20 to 30 people around (I hear now well over 50 at the 
Sauffley's) .
