[pct-l] Angora fire perimeter 06/25/07

The hiker called back and I gave him this info.  He was under the impression
that Route 3 at Barker Pass was not open until July 4 (I dunno). I also gave
him Iron Chef’s suggestion, which he was going to investigate.

 

It’s pretty stunning to me that the northbounders are all the way to Tahoe
and beyond and it’s still June.  This guy wasn’t even in the earliest groups
that came through.  Quite a different story from last year.

If they know anyone in the S. Lake Tahoe area, or if a group would band
together to hire a cab, they could pick up the PCT again where it crosses
the Forest Route 3 at Barker Pass, 32 miles north of Echo Lake Resort. That
should put them well north of the fire.
