A friend of mine and I hiked up Freel Peak today and on the way back home decided to go through South Lake Tahoe (the fire had not yet started when we were on top of Freel, so we didn't know). We drove very close to the fire area coming down 89. It was already very big and pretty scary looking. We are watching the Reno news right now and it looks even scarier.
