Yosemite keeps at least 30% of permits for walk ups starting the day before the start of you hike.  You can just show up and get a permit the day before or often the day of (if you are there before they open) your hike.  If you start on a weekday rather then a weekend, it is easy to get a same day permit.  So just go to the wilderness office in Yosemite Valley.
