You're correct about the closure on 138 -- I read about that in the Times.
Apparently people were so frustrated with the construction delays, they've
actually been aggressive to the Cal Trans workers, on more than one
occasion.  Their response to this is to close 138 while they're doing the
work.

CalTrans has a website, http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi, for 
road conditions. I just checked and CalTrans reports the closure on SR 
2, but nothing about 38. Also shows closure due to construction on 138.  
So, CalTrans is useful info; but so are the people on this list.
