I got a bite from a fire-ant (red devils) that left me with a huge
swollen, itchy, hot thigh for several days. Couldn't tell what was
different about that one from the other fire-ants that've bitten me
multiple times so far out here.
It seems ants are common beside creeks. Other than that, sometimes
they're busy in places covered with pine neeldes, sometimes on soft sand,
sometimes hard sand, haven't noticed any real consistant geographic
factors.
