Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from
this order on the Klamath NF:

       1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically
authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission. *Persons
with a valid California Campfire Permit are not exempt from
the prohibitions listed above. However, persons with a valid
California Campfire Permit may use portable stoves or lanterns
using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel.

Banning campfires on the Klamath NF has become rather normal for the last
few years. Right now, no campfires in the wilderness areas, National Forest
lands, or on the PCT. If you have a California Fire Permit, and are being
responsible and careful with your stove, whatever kind, (maybe not a Zip),
you'll be OK. The local wilderness ranger is assigned to the fires, so you
won't run into this one on the local PCT trail. Just be very careful and
responsible with your stove!!
