Statement as of 3:53 PM PDT on July 11, 2007

... Fire Weather Watch in effect from late Thursday night through
Friday evening for scattered lightning...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Fire Weather
Watch... which is in effect from late Thursday night through
Friday evening.

Scattered lightning is expected to develop sometime late Thursday
night or Friday. Some precipitation is expected to accompany the
storms... but quite a few lightning strikes will still fall outside
the narrow rain shafts that come with the storms. Considering the
abundant nature of the forecast lightning and the recent hot dry
weather... this lightning episode has the potential to start a
number of fires and keep initial attack crews busy.

A Fire Weather Watch is issued when dry lightning or the
combination of strong winds and low humidities are expected.
Please pass this Fire Weather Watch on to crews in the field.
