I've been out on the trail for a week and a half and am catching up.
 
Re: TP... you do not need to carry TP, and you can still be hygenic.  Nature provides a number of wonderful materials to wipe one's ass with.  Rocks, pinecones (directionally!), sticks, leaves, snow.  I never carry a single sheet of TP into the backcountry, and manage to keep a neat and tidy backside.  You can too.  It's easy... just try.
