[pct-l] Water treatment practices

I hate to say it, but I treat everything, even crystal clear  stream water 
dripping off glaciers. I remember way back when we carried Sierra  Cups and 
tasted each rivulet we passed. Some were amazing, some not so much, but  each had 
a different distinct flavor. If water was iffy, we boiled it.  
 
I miss those days. 
 
Sometimes I think about just taking antibiotics and  antiprotozoan's 
prophylacticly, just so I could in good conscience guzzle  straight from the stream 
one more time...
