Via Alpina: Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Swiss.
on both of the trail good navigation skills required.

Munich - Venice (if you want to go for a shorter walk): Germany, Austria, Italy
>From Italy you can walk back on the Via Alta Dolomiti 2 to Austria or further to Germany.

For your information: many trails in French follow small tarmac roads. Not nice. So does the famous Santiago de la Compostella.
