Given the number of folks headed north from Campo each year and the number 
of real incidents involving illegals, you should probably be more concerned 
about African Killer Bees.

If you camp near the border, stop in and check in with the border patrol 
right off the trail (they'll give you water, too!). Just give them an idea 
where you are campinging. Otherwise, just head a few miles up the trail, 
move well off the trail and crash.

Don't be put off by all the drama and scare tactics, it's just noise.
