I repalced my tips at one of the two sport shops in Bishop.  It was on the 
right hand side of the main road entering Bishop.

They did the work.....   $15.00

A person can call ahead and have tips reserved.

Between Campo and Walker Pass my tips were litterally sanded down by the 
trail.  By the time I got up near Whitney they were sliding off 
rocks.............. Dangerous.

I now use plastic tips in those sandy areas where I don't need sharp tips.
