There are a lot of long distance trails in Europe -
you can have an overview on this (English) website:

Unfortunately, there is no thruhiking community in
Europe like there is in the US - the whole concept of
thruhiking is fairly unknown. How well the trails are
marked and maintained depends on the country they run
through. 

And of course there is the new Te Araroa Trail in New
Zealand:

I have always wondered why there is not more interest
in long distance trails outside the US on this list...
there is a lot to discover out there!!!!!!
