He ordered from Amazon. Amazon, however, says "available" but then
"Usually ships within 4 to 6 weeks" meaning they get them from somewhere
else. I've order other books from them this way, thrilled they were
"available" when the publisher was out of stock, only to find out 6
weeks later that Amazon couldn't really get them either. In fact, that's
happening right now with a book I order in November.

There are three copies actually available through third parties via
Amazon, starting at $61.89, with one seller asking $99 for a used copy,
if you really want one now! 

Be glad this isn't 2002 when WP was out of stock and waiting for the new
edition. Page xi of the current So Cal guidebook mentions that the
California book was going for over $75 a copy, and WP had none coming
that summer. Thankfully, Roslyn at WP says they'll be in stock this
month.
