If going thru and not opting for cannister...line food stuff sacks
with ursack oder barrier bags (cheap) ...buy some funk remover (
funkremover.com) (also cheap)....stealth camp...then spray your food bags,
yourself and your pack with funk remover (couple a quick shots, takes just a
second - completely safe) before you break for night camp.  When you make
night camp you are odor free...the stuff is awesome.  Its almost always what
the bear smells that causes interaction with humans camping.  On many
occasions, by using this method, I have been more assured of peace in the
night in bear country.

Udap pepper spray...not cheap...but a must for me in the bear hills.

Not for everyone, I know, but some, like me, like to cover the bases as well
as we can.
