20 degree bags are commonly recommended for the Sierra. For summers in
the Sierra I use a 32 degree bag (currently a Mountain Hardware Phantom
32) and wear my down jacket (WM Flight) if it is really cold. That helps
me justify carrying a jacket that I would otherwise only wear for an
hour or so in the mornings. I do sleep in a tent (Six Moon Designs
Europa or Wanderlust Nomad) in the Sierra because of bugs and chance of
rain. YMMV.
