[pct-l] Foot swelling - how long before it sets in?

I found it does vary per person, I wore in 3 pairs of shoes for the 2005 thru hike. I
found that my feet grew only about 1/4 size, and only one pair of the shoes 
became snug, but still usable. A year after the hike, I notice the pair of shoes 
that I bought right after the hike is just a little loose. But I hike 20 miles for fun.

So it depends how much you hike before your going on the trip as well.

If they just make sure that there shoes ARE NOT tight, but have some room left in them before the hike, they will probably be just fine.

Ditto on what girlscout said.

Foot swelling is not a issue for me at all. I do buy shoes a half size 
larger to allow for better breathability though.

It depends entirely on the individual.
