I got some free samples of the AquaClip water bottle holders (AquaClip.com)
to test. It holds a 16 ounce (store bought) water bottle easily. Each clip
weighs .4 ounce. So, that is not too bad at all. They come in colors and I
like the bright orange color best. It would be harder to lose out there on
the trail. I will test it out Saturday along the south rim of the Grand
Canyon with my waist pack belt system and report back to you after the expedition
is over the following Saturday.

Initially, it looks like it would be easy to just lift it off a belt and
return it after a drink. Also, the clip holds the bottle firmly, so I do not
think there would be any accident of it the bottle coming lose while walking.
I also wonder how heat and cold would effect the clip. Cold often makes gear
brittle, and heat makes things soft.

Your pal, Switchback
