[pct-l] sleeping open in the desert?

Though I've never heard of a hiker having problems with scorpions,
tarantulas or snakes crawling on them, just the thought of that would
make me loose sleep...

Or spiders, ants...

Or how about those huge iridescent purple flying bugs that buzz real
loud and look like they could bite an ounce of flesh from you...

Or....

Now sleep tight!

i wouldn't let this worry you too much. many folks (myself included)
cowboy camp in the desert as often as possible. it's really delightful.
i never had a problem with creepy-crawlies in the desert. further north,

in the sierra and beyond, you'll have mosquitos to contend with, but
that's a different issue.

i just threw down my tyvek, z-rest, and sleeping bag. i think from campo

to km, i set up my tent maybe 6 times at the most.
