Good morning, 'Mom,

We're getting about the same snow here around Mt. Hood. Where the PCT crosses, Hood usually gets a total of about 34 ft. of snow in a season, and already they've have had over 20 ft. with the heaviest months to come. The snow compresses over time, so the actual depth on the ground right now is only about 8 1/2 ft. . They will probably get another foot or two of fluffy stuff today and tomorrow.

I only have about 6" where I live at 1290 ft. elevation, but we may get another 4-6" today.

Merry Christmas,

Steel-Eye

We've got almost 2 feet of snow here in Skykomish and it's supposed to keep coming down for at least 3 more days. The passes in Washington should end up with a lot of snow left over in the spring. Those doing a south bound hike next year need to keep checking the Postholer site before they start from Manning Park. Here's a local site for snow depth in the north Cascades.
