[pct-l] Getting Fleeced

Good evening, Doc,
It seems the DriClime is popular favorite, and although I looked at it
seriously it I'm pleased I went a different way. I use a 200-weight fleece
pull-over and a separate ultralite windshirt. The fleece weighs 10.4 oz.
and a windshirt weighs 3.0-5.0 oz., the sum of which approximately equals
the weight of a DriClime. I like the separate layers. Often during the day
if I stop for a while when I'm warm, I'll slip on the windshirt alone.
Other times I wear the windshirt alone to resist mosquitoes. In either
instance, with the fleece inside I would be too hot. At night I often sleep
in the fleece, but I don't really like to sleep in the windshirt. It's not
waterproof but because of it's densely woven fabric it doesn't breathe as
well as I like for sleeping, and a windshirt isn't of much use inside a
sleeping bag anyway. It goes on in the morning as soon as I sit up in the
bag, and comes off again after about 10-15 minutes on the trail. The fleece
usually comes off somewhat later, depending upon the exertion and the
temperature.
At this TrailJournal site: http://www.trailjournals.com/steel-eye you can
see the use of the fleece alone on a suspension bridge in the photo list for
5 June. Use of the windshirt alone can be seen in the photo on the Journal
entry for 6 June.
For windshirts, I like the GoLite Ether, or occasionally a Marmot windshirt
with a full-length zipper. The fleece pull-overs are some off-brand that I
bought on sale but which seem to work fine.
