In Lone Pine there is a great place called the Dow Villa that has 
inexpensive rooms with shared bathrooms.  Bev at La Florista, who apparently 
knows everyone in town, took pity on my sweaty, filthy self and asked the 
Dow Villa people if I could just get a shower.  I had to leave Lone Pine the 
same day I arrived there, so I didn't actually stay at the Dow, but the 
people there were really nice and let me take that shower as well as stow my 
pack there for a couple hours. The people in Lone Pine are wonderful!

Also, while you're in town, I recommend The Lone Pine Film History Museum.  
Over 400 films have been shot around there since the silent film days.
