I would recommend buying Yogi's guide
(pcthandbook.com) and start reading it now.  It will
answer most of your questions.A lot of people just buy
their food along the trail except for a few places
like Steihekin, Kennedy meadows, belden, etc. You will
probably want to order other guide books like the
official pct guides and data book (pcta.org) which
will take time to arrive.  Also you may also want to
order gear over the internet like a Henry SHires
Tarptent which you can do ahead of time.  The Yogi
guide goes over all the gear you may want too along
with which places you can buy food at instead of
sending a supply box.
