This time I'm planning Belden-Carson Pass, more or less, and since this will be late season I have a few questions:

Wahoo!
Working backwards
4..Yes, just about anywhere. It seems to me there is a "better class" of
hunter out that way, not the drunken yahoo shooting from the bed of a
pickup truck at anything that moves, but you cant be too careful.
3. I have no knowledge of this except to say water has not been an issue
in my late season hikes out that way.
2. I didn't resupply on my hikes in the traditional sense. I set up caches.
1. N>S, S>N there isn't much difference. I do whatever works for me on
each Section/Segment I hike. Some "traditionalists" insist you can only
go S>N or N>S but I am living proof you can do either ;-)
Have a great trip!
