I believe that the "kid" and Pigmy are going to Seattle tomorrow and doing
some shopping for basics. Food has been covered. I *have* shown him every
response to my original post. It did open his eyes. He didn't seem to think
I knew what I was talking about but when he read what all the experienced
hikers wrote and was seconded by Pigmy he figured out he was in over his
head. Appreciate everyone's help on this. I can only do so much. Sometimes
you just have to kick them in the rear.
