[pct-l] Parking/transportation at South Lake TH & Onion Valley TH

I've hitched into and out of both trailheads. It's a matter of luck.
South Lake has a huge parking lot and lots of fisherman. Onion Valley
has a campground and a well-used trailhead, with a 30 car parking lot.
There is more traffic coming out of south lake. You can park at either
trailhead with no regulations. My last trip I parked in Bishop in the
free city parking across from the Sheriffs station, took the bus to the
road to Kennedy Meadows, hitched up to there, and then exited Onion
VAlley, and hitched to Bishop. I'd plan on ending my hike around 3PM in
Onion Valley and hitching from there to Independence, then Bishop, then
up to South Lake. Or park in Bishop, hitch up to South Lake, do the
hike, hitch out of Onion Valley to Independence, wait for the bus or
hitchike to Bishop, with no hitch up to south lake. In any case, unless
you find someone to shuttle your car, which might be possible, you're
going to do some hitchhiking. People are used to hikers up there, so
there isn't the fear factor you might find elsewhere on the PCT...
